DRAWING
3 Cups Drawing
For our three object drawing, we were asked to demonstrate the four principles of composition in 30 minutes. I liked the shape of my objects and I like the way I spaced them. Although personally, I wish that we received more time to complete our drawings because my drawing is not finished to my liking. I wish that I was able to draw the shadows and show more depth in my drawing before the time ran out. I learned how to use my time more efficiently in the future so I can spend more time focusing on little details. I hope that in the future I will be able to use my value scale and shade my objects accordingly.
Line Quality Drawing
In our line quality drawing, we were asked to demonstrate a variety of things. Everything from, composition, to value range, to our use of lines. This drawing was more difficult than the three cups drawing and I struggled a little bit. Despite my struggles, I am happy about my shadows and how I included every value. I like how I included the reflection on the silver bottle and the reflections on the glass bottles. This is definitely an improvement from my previous drawing, but I still wish that I went into more depth in my drawings. In the future, I hope to become more confident in my drawings and exaggerate my composition.
Still-Life Drawing
For our still-life drawing, we were asked to demonstrate our understanding of composition, line quality, value, and Da Vinci's 6 parts of light in three days. I am very happy about this drawing. I included every value and incorporated my shadows. I even was able to focus on depth in this drawing and I defined the edges between each surface change. However, I now have a new improvement area, I would like to work on making my backgrounds more realistic. I was really happy with how my pineapple stem and my candle turned out. In the future, I want to focus on making my background more realistic and interesting.
1-Point Perspective Drawing
For our 1-point perspective drawing, we were asked to make a drawing using the 1-point perspective techniques that we had learned. I am very pleased with this drawing and I think that it is a major improvement from my previous drawings. I did very well with incorporating all my values and I really focused on details in this drawing. I think that I did well with making everything fade away. I did well with depth and making everything look realistic. As an improvement from my previous drawing, I think that I made my background seem more interesting. However, I wish that I added more highlights into this drawing. In the future, I wish to add more highlights and make the harsh pencil lines not noticeable.
Self-Portrait Drawing
For our self-portrait drawing, we were asked to demonstrate our understanding of the proportions of the face, our sense of shading facial features, and our use of values. This self-portrait drawing was a little difficult for me because I had trouble with my shading. I wish that I had pushed my values further and made it look more realistic. I also feel like I shaded my face too dark when in reality my face is a lot lighter. However, I am happy with how my eyes and my lips turned out and I think I did very well with detail and value in those areas. I also think that I did very well with my nose and I think that it looks very realistic. Furthermore, I think that I did well with my proportions and my face looks evenly spaced. In the future, I wish to work on the shading in self-portraits and to add a full range of values into my self-portraits.
2-Point Persepctive + Flesh
For our 2-point perspective drawing, we were asked to demonstrate our understanding of 2-point perspective and our understanding of human anatomy by including flesh. I think that I did very well in adding all of my values and I think that I did well in details. For instance, the signs and the brick buildings are good details of my drawing. I also think that I did well on establishing a light source because one side of my buildings is lighter than the other. However, I wish that I had taken my drawing into more depth and made it look more realistic. I think that I did the anatomy well on my human flesh but I wish that the clothing on the human looked better. In the future, I hope to take my drawings into more depth and work on making them realistic.
Grey Paper Drawing
For our grey paper drawing, we were asked to demonstrate our use of charcoal pencils and composition and value range. I think that I did well on utilizing the grey parts of my paper to make it easier. I also think that I included a full range of values. However, I wish that I would have taken my time more and made it look more realistic. From far away, you can barely tell what my picture is and I wish that I would have established a light source. I wish that I would have focused more on details and made it not look so rushed. In the future, I hope to make my drawings more realistic and take more time on them.
